Getting to Coconuts from
the airport – is really easy, but does need some explanation.
First of all, virtually
all of the international flights arrive at Faleolo Airport. To
make things confusing, the airport symbol for Faleolo Airport
is APW – which stands for Apia. This causes most first time
visitors to mistakenly believe that the airport is located in
Apia – the main town in Samoa. In fact, the airport is located
about 20 miles from the town of Apia and about 25 miles from
Coconuts. The driving time between the airport and Coconuts is
about 45 minutes, compared to about 35 minutes between that
airport and the town of Apia. That being the case, there is
really no need to book your first or last night at a hotel in
town to be “nearer” the airport for those flights that arrive
or depart in the middle of the night.
A van to Coconuts will
pick you up at the airport, no matter what time your flight
arrives. We have been meeting flights that arrive in the
middle of the night for more than 10 years and it is no
problem. Same for departing flights. So, please let us know
your arrival and departure times and request airport transfers
and we will take care of everything else.
One other item to note –
please let us know in advance if you are bringing long
surfboards, or any other special needs that you have. That way
we are prepared!
